W.A.G Therapeutic Service are internationally trained in AAT (Animal Assisted Therapy) and AAPT (Animal Assisted Play Therapy). We use highly trained therapy dogs to assist children, teens and adults with their mental health needs in a playful, fun and caring environment. 

We are looking for dedicated and passionate Clinical and General Psychologists to join our team at our Strathpine clinic (15mins north of Chermside). We are flexible and lifestyle matters to us! 

The right person will be interested in learning how to, and subsequently using, therapy dogs as a tool to assist in their practice.

Essential Requirements

  • Must be a fully qualified Clinical or General Psychologist

  • Must be willing to work a minimum of 2 days/week (although WAG Therapy can easily provide full-time hours immediately)

  • Must be comfortable with dogs and working within an environment where they are present

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in providing assessment and psychological interventions using evidence-based practice

  • Experience working with clients with a range of presenting issues

  • High professional standards and commitment to excellence in service delivery 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Self-motivated, passionate and driven

  • Ongoing commitment to professional development - We want someone who is interested in using animals as a tool to assist in providing the best treatment possible. We have 2 trained dogs and (after training) you will eventually use one of them in your sessions at the clinic - they make therapy better, trust us! 

  • Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • Full registration with AHPRA 

  • Eligible to apply for Medicare Provider Number 

  • Current Professional Indemnity Insurance
